March 2013 - Free spirits to get self-service whisky tours
One of Scotland’s top apartment-hotels is helping visitors to Edinburgh get into the spirit of Scotland by running whisky tours.
The multi award-winning Knight Residence, a complex of 28 luxury self-catering apartments in the centre of the capital, has launched a customised service which takes guests to distilleries in Perthshire and East Lothian, and the Scotch Whisky Experience (SWE) attraction near Edinburgh Castle.
Guests will be driven on day tours to their choice of distilleries and visitor centres in Crieff, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl and Pencaitland, stopping for lunch en route. The SWE, which holds one of the world’s largest selection of whiskies, is a few minutes away from The Knight Residence. The price will depend on the number of people in the group and the type of transport provided.
Colin Stone, General Manager of The Knight Residence, commented: “Many visitors to Edinburgh are keen to have a taste of what the Scotch whisky industry is all about. We’re helping them do this the easy way.”
The Knight Residence has regularly been voted among the top 500 hotels in the world by guests reviewing for global travel firm Expedia, and has won the Service Excellence category for serviced apartments in the Scottish Hotel Awards for the past two years in succession. In 2012 it was awarded the title of Scotland’s “Best Employer in Hospitality.”
